Keep organizing for emergency tariffs protections!
The clock is ticking to April 2, when US President Donald Trump’s tariffs on goods produced in Canada will take effect. Meanwhile, tariffs imposed by China already took effect on March 20. No matter where we live or work, the tariffs are already hurting us and our communities. That's why we are demanding all levels of government implement a set of Emergency Measures as an urgent priority. To date, the federal government announced almost nothing for workers, but has allocated billions of dollars in support for corporations.
Last week, about 400 people from across Canada participated in our Emergency Town Hall to discuss the tariff threat and what we can do to protect ourselves. We committed ourselves to a No One Left Behind agenda that puts workers first. (If you missed the meeting, you can listen to or watch the recording and get the shared links here.)
To keep the momentum going, we’re coming together this Tuesday, March 25 for a pan-Canadian organizing meeting. We’ll also get prepared for the coming federal election and build support for workers who are fighting for decent work in local communities.
Can you join us at the March 25 online organizing meeting? It’s taking place at 4:00 pm PT | 7:00 pm ET | 8:00 pm AT | 8:30 pm NT.
Since the Emergency Town Hall we’ve had a very good response. Folks like you have asked for leaflets, posters, sign-up sheets, sample resolutions, shareables and more. Our team has been working hard to get those resources out to you as quickly as possible.
Here are the resources available on our Tariff Emergency page:
- Posters: Tabloid size - 11" x 17"
- Leaflets: Letter size - 8.5" x 11" (single-sided, cut in half)
- Petition: Letter size - 8.5" x 11" - The full list of emergency measures is included on the back page (if you make double-sided copies, flip on the short edge). You can type up the names of the people who want to join the campaign using this spreadsheet or this form. (Both links are also available on our Resources page.)
- Sample resolution: Please make a copy of this Google document and modify the motion to best suit your organization or union.

If you need help with printing, email us at [email protected]. Let us know your mailing address plus the quantities you need, and we will do our best to mail them to you. (If you live in Toronto, you can also pick them up from our office in Room 219 at 720 Spadina Avenue, between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday).
If you would like to organize an outreach event, a postering run, or a "Lunch and Learn" session, let us know so we can support your organizing effort.
And if you are planning to attend the March 25 online organizing meeting, please think about one other person you can bring with you to the meeting: a friend, a co-worker, or a neighbour.
The more people fighting for a No One Left Behind agenda, the stronger we will be.
