LCBO Workers win protections for good jobs and public services

July 22, 2024

We are excited to announce after a strong two-week strike,

LCBO workers won a Collective Agreement that protects good jobs and keeps public revenue in public hands.

Thanks to the outpouring of support of our communities, LCBO workers wins include:

  • Converting 1000 casual workers to permanent part-time positions.
  • Easier access to health benefits for casual part-time employees.
  • Wage increases of 8 percent over three years, and an additional 7.8 per cent for the lowest-paid workers.
  • Safeguarding public revenues with no LCBO retail stores closing due to  the marketplace expansion of alcohol

A win for LCBO workers is a win for all of us. This victory is an example of what we can accomplish when workers stick together!

Status for All: The Time is Now!

Permanent immigration status means migrant workers have the basic rights and protections that all of us deserve. But despite the Trudeau’s government’s promise to help undocumented migrant workers and their families stay in Canada, the government spent $115 million since 2022 to deport more migrants than it has in over a decade.

That’s why we are joining with the Migrant Rights Network’s social media campaign to show how regularization is an issue that touches the lives of all of us.

Step 1: Make a sign and take a photo

You can use text such as "Someone I know/love/work with is undocumented. Regularization Now!". Make sure to personalize it.

Step 2: Upload your photo on social media

  • On Instagram and Facebook: Go to the Migrant Rights Network accounts, click stories, and you will see a button that says "Add yours" - Upload your photo there. (Search for Migrant Rights Network on Facebook and Instagram)
  • On Twitter: Add it as a reply or a quote tweet this Migrant Rights Network tweet.

Step 3: Tag Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Immigration Minister Marc Miller

  • Twitter: @JustinTrudeau & @MarcMillerVM
  • Instagram: @justinpjtrudeau & @marcmillervillemarie

Step 4: Ask THREE friends or coworkers to post too.

  • If you are undocumented, ask your friends or family to post the photo or email the photo to [email protected].
