What does fighting against wage theft mean?

Here is what we are fighting for:

1. Our government must enforce the law.
   In the last 10 years, $200 million of wages was stolen from workers by employers in Ontario. Yet over $80 million was unrecovered.
   
   
2. Our government must fix the law.
   Too many employers are misclassifying us and using subcontracting, temp agencies and franchising to avoid their responsibilities of our rights at work.
   
   
3. Workers need real power and job protection.
   Ontario's enforcement system relies on workers making complaints rather than proactive workplace inspections. As result, too many workers are afraid of standing up for fear of losing their job.

This is why we are joining the Workers' Action Centre tomorrow for the the Stop Wage Theft report and campaign launch. Together, we will hear from workers who have experienced wage theft and strategize with them on what needs to be done to fight back.
