Canada’s government website claims that Canada “advances peace and security, develops friendly relations among nations, defends democracy, upholds the rule of law, welcomes immigrants, protects the environment, and promotes human rights, equality, and economic opportunity.”
Others point out that Indigenous people in Canada suffer extreme poverty. The UN condemns Canada's temporary foreign-worker program as “modern slavery." Canada imprisons thousands of immigrants and refugees in cruel and inhumane conditions. And Canadian companies dominate a South American mining industry that destroys the environment and violates human rights.
