Join us in front of the Wellington St. W. LCBO to talk with OPSEU workers and their customers about the fight to keep the LCBO public.
In 2026, the government plans to expand alcohol sales into 8,500 new, privately operated stores.
Every year, profits from LCBO sales add $2.5 billion to the Ontario economy to pay for hospitals, schools, and other vital public programs. Letting private stores sell alcohol transfers this profit to the private sector, leaving less money for our already under-funded public services.
Privatizing the LCBO means the loss of good-paying union jobs. Much of the work unionized LCBO workers used to do has already been transferred to the private sector, including: online order fulfillment, warehousing, specialty orders, and printing services.

We need MORE union jobs, not fewer ones. Communities with more unionized workers enjoy overall higher living standards and less inequality.
Help us keep the LCBO public and unionized!
After this event, we will convene at 42 Carden St. for refreshments and a J4W organizing meeting. All are welcome!
