These are difficult times.
Every social-justice organization is struggling to retain members, and so are we. Unrelenting attacks on our wages and working conditions, the outrageous cost of living, continuing climate catastrophes, and failure to stop the war are all immensely discouraging.
People are just as angry, even more so, but setbacks and defeats take their toll.
Organizing is like surfing. Mass struggle rises in waves, then recedes. You try to catch the wave as it's rising and ride it for all it's worth. Then the wave recedes.
Organizations that adjust to the rhythm of revolt can position themselves to grow larger and stronger when the next wave rises.
