  • Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) workers, members of CUPE 2073, have been on strike for nearly two months!
  • They are fighting for decent wages, better staffing, and better services for the deaf, deaf/blind, and hard of hearing communities.
  • While CEO Julia Dumanian now takes home more than $340,000 a year, workers have fallen 16% behind inflation under her leadership.
  • Morale is plummeting - and so are the quality of services. People are doing the job of 2 or 3 workers, leading to: Longer wait times for assessments and treatment; Overbooked interpreters; Employment consultants with case loads so high they can’t meaningfully help deaf and hard of hearing individuals actually find and keep work.
Join us as we make phone calls to the CHS Board of Directors, to demand they bargain a fair deal with their staff. Good services means decent work and wages! ASL interpretation will be provided.
