Provincial Day of Action to Support Childcare Workers
Ontario
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Ontario Coalition of Better Childcare & Association of Early Childhood Educators in Ontario are leading a Provincial Early Childhood Education & Care Day of Action. With the Canada-Wide $10/day Child Care Plan, families should be able to access quality, affordable child care in an expanding childcare system that meets their needs.
But that’s not the case in Ontario.
Because the Ontario government has not adequately addressed the workforce crisis in child care, existing child care spots/spaces are limited or unstable; and expanding the number of good quality child care spots will be almost impossible.
It doesn’t have to be like this.
Other provinces will achieve $10/day child care and build new spaces because they are implementing realistic salary scales. $18/hour is not a decent wage, childcare workers are being forced out of jobs that they love because of these poverty wages. And families continue to struggle without access to the child care they need.
This is NOT what Ontario deserves. ALL families should have access to childcare now!
Join our PHONE ZAP on Monday, June 19th, 7:00-8:00 PM to demand that Ontario address the workforce crisis and deliver accessible child care expansion now.
