In education, as in all public programs, the quality of working conditions directly affects the quality of the services workers provide.
Higher wages bring more money into public services and that benefits service users. Cutting funding for education worsens conditions for workers and the students they serve.
The contract bargaining system divides workers in education from each other and from students. We cannot win if we remain divided.
By joining forces, students and workers can improve conditions for both groups. A united worker/student fightback across society could end the for-profit system and restructure education to meet OUR needs, not those of the corporate class.
