Decent work organizing meeting

Tuesday, October 19, 2021
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This meeting will be held online using Zoom and there will be ASL and live captions in English provided.

Join Justice for Workers and the Ontario Federation of Labour on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. We'll be taking action to extend and restore the Canada Recovery Benefits and fix Employment Insurance; we'll be organizing to win at least 10 paid sick days federally and provincially/territorially; we'll be building safe and healthy workplaces; and standing shoulder to shoulder with gig workers and personal support workers.

After sharing the latest political updates, we'll be hosting the following breakout groups to plan next steps:

  1. Federal issues action (Extend CERB; Fix EI; Migrant justice; Indigenous rights)

  2. Employer-paid sick days for all (At least 10 paid sick days permanently, and an additional 14 days during health outbreaks)

  3. Safe and healthy workplaces (Status for all workers; Employer-paid PPE; Social distancing at work and in all staff quarters; Employer-paid sick leave; Right to refuse unsafe work)
  4. Solidarity with CUPE 4763, workers at the Bob Rumball Centre for Excellence for the Deaf (conducted in ASL and English)

  5. Solidarity with gig workers (End misclassification; Stop the Uberization of work; Full and equal rights for gig workers)

RSVP for the Zoom link to be emailed to you.
