Migrants, including refugees, care workers, farmworkers, undocumented people and international students, continue the fight for immigration status for all. On July 25, a historic gathering of migrants will arrive in Ottawa after marching from Montreal. Join us on Wednesday, July 14 for a phonebank to invite our neighbours in Ottawa to the march for Status for All?
The form to RSVP and get the link to join the phone bank is just below the details of the march and poster.
Here are some details about march:
MONTREAL: Sunday, July 18, 11 am, Square Cabot, 2322 Saint-Catherine Street West, Rally
OTTAWA: Sunday, July 25, 2 pm, Major’s Hill Park/corner of Murray and Mackenzie, Rally
The march comes as migrants across the country have been calling for full and permanent immigration status for all. A hard-fought campaign has led to creating a new pathway to immigration program -- but this new program is still woefully inadequate. As a result, the vast majority of working-class, racialized and particularly undocumented people are shut out of permanent resident status.
Migrants continue to live in a state of crisis, but the crisis has dramatically deepened in the pandemic's wake. At least 14 farmworkers have died in Canada this year alone. Another half a dozen international students have died by suicide.
Now is the time to take action and organize to ensure full and permanent immigration status for all!
