Decent Work Organizing Meeting
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This meeting will be held online using Zoom and there will be ASL and live captions in English provided.
The movement for decent work is growing, but there is still so much more that low-wage and precarious workers need. This government started their term by freezing the minimum wage and cancelling permanent paid sick days so we can imagine how they will respond to our most recent wins. As we recover from the pandemic, they will be looking to claw back paid sick days and income protections if we do not fight back.
Justice for Workers and the Ontario Federation of Labour are co-hosting online decent work organizing meetings.
We use these meetings to organize for:
-
Safe and healthy workplaces (Status for all workers; Employer-paid PPE; Social distancing at work and in all staff quarters; Employer-paid sick leave; Right to refuse unsafe work)
-
Employer-paid sick days for all (At least 10 paid sick days permanently, and an additional 14 days during health outbreaks)
-
Decent income for all (Extend CERB; Fix EI; Make pandemic pay permanent; Raise the minimum wage)
-
Strong communities (Food security; Affordable housing; Accessible public transit; Solidarity)
RSVP for the Zoom link to be emailed to you.
Canadian politicians promised you permanent paid sick days, a $15 federal minimum wage, and a comprehensive review for a stronger Employment Insurance program.
