Capitalism produces massive profits for the few and massive suffering for the many. Poverty, homelessness, psychological distress, racism, sexism, gender oppression, and environmental destruction are just some of the social problems that capitalism creates and non-profit organizations are expected to address.
At best, non-profits put bandaids on broken bodies. The precarious nature of their funding and the need to please grant-givers limits what they can achieve.
What is the role of non-profits in a capitalist society? How can non-profit workers build class solidarity to improve their working conditions and the lives of those they support?
